UNILAG Courses and Requirements: The University of Lagos (UNILAG), as it is fondly called is an internationally-recognized Nigerian university located in Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria. The university is one of the first five generations of universities in Nigeria and was founded in 1962. It currently has three campuses in mainland Lagos. While two of the campuses are located in Yaba (Akoka’s main campus and the newly created campus at the former school of Radiography site), The university’s medical school is located at Idi-Araba Surulere, Lagos. The main campus is largely surrounded by the Lagos lagoon and has 802 hectares of land. UNILAG remains one of the most competitive and most sought-after institutions in Nigeria in terms of admission.

A recent publication of Forbes magazine ranked UNILAG as the 3rd best university in Africa for entrepreneurship after the University of Cape Town and Makerere University, tagging the University of Lagos as the “startup powerhouse” college for Nigerian students.

Due to so many major academic feats, the university has been called “the university of first choice and the nation’s pride.” The university’s research activity was one of the major criteria used by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in adjudging the university as the best university in Nigeria at the Nigerian University System Annual Merit Award (NUSAMA) in 2008.

Below are all the accredited UNILAG Courses and Requirements, Kindly click on any of the courses you wish to apply for to see the UTME subject, Direct Entry, and O’Level requirements for the course.

If you have found your desired course, you can enrol in the UNILAG’s Bachelor’s degree programs either through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), by Direct Entry, or through the Pre-degree Programme.
Basically, the purpose of the entry requirement is to ensure that those admitted have the necessary preparedness to scale through the program. There is a compulsory screening test for all eligible candidates.

UNILAG Admission Requirements Through UTME

  • Interested applicants must take part in Unified tertiary and Matriculation Examination UTME and must have acquired a minimum score of 200.
  • Candidates who had not clocked sixteen (16) years of age as of October 31, 2021, are not eligible and need not apply.

  • Applicants must acquire at least 5 credits (English and Mathematics inclusive) in their O’level result. O’level results can be either WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB results.
  • Candidates must also take part in the university’s POST-UTME screening.

Procedure for UNILAG’s Direct Entry Online Registration

Eligible applicants are advised to log on to the University of Lagos official website through www.unilag.edu.ng and proceed with the following steps outlined below:

  1. Click on Admissions
  2. Click on Direct Entry (DE) Application
  3. Log in with JAMB registration number as username and surname in lowercase as password.
  4. Generate and print payment advice
  5. Proceed to any commercial bank to make a payment or pay online.
  6. Return to the University portal to complete the screening form
  7. Upload your O’Level and A’Level results (First Degree, HND, OND, SDA, JUPEB, Cambridge A’Level, NCE, NFLV DIP, MUSON DIP, ABRSM, Trinity College London, Baccalaureate, DELF/DALF)
  8. Print Direct Entry e-registration slip

Screening Fee – ₦2000

NOTE: Candidates who made the University of Lagos their first choice in the 2021/2022 Direct Entry (DE) application are eligible for screening. Also, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O’level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

  • Candidates who do not participate in the Online Screening will not be considered for admission.
  • Former students of the University whose admissions were withdrawn on the basis of poor academic performance or absence status could re-apply on the condition that the new admission shall be for a new programme/course different from the former programme/course.
  • Any student expelled from the University cannot be offered fresh admission.
  • The University has zero tolerance for drug abuse and shall therefore withdraw the admission of newly admitted students that test positive for drug use whenever the University conducts the test, either before or after registration.
