UNIBEN is located in the ancient city of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria. UNIBEN currently boost of a student population of about 38,865 comprising undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorial students spread across the fifteen faculties on the two campuses.
The University of Benin, a.k.a UNIBEN, is one of the most sought-after tertiary institutions in Nigeria, this could be traced to the varsity’s academic feats and reputation since its establishment in 1970 barely 10 years after the nation’s independence.
However, gaining admission into UNIBEN is somewhat competitive thereby prompting prospective applicants to look for courses they can apply to and easily be considered for admission. UNIBEN Admission Requirements
- Candidates who scored 180 and above in UTME are eligible for UNIBEN’s Post-UTME screening exercise.
- Prospective applicants are advised to make the University of Benin their First Choice of institution in the JAMB’s UTME.
- Interested applicants must acquire a minimum of at least (5) O’ level credit passes in relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) at GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO, or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
- Interested applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

If you have found your desired course, you can enroll in the University of Benin’s Bachelor’s degree programs either through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), by Direct Entry, or through the Pre-degree Programme.
Basically, the purpose of the entry requirement is to ensure that the students admitted have the required preparation to scale through any of the academic programs they chose. There is a compulsory screening test for all eligible candidates.
