The federal university of technology, Owerri, FUTO is unarguably the best and the oldest technological university in Nigeria. The federal university of technology, Owerri was established in 1980.

On November 28, 1980, FUTO opened its doors to academic activities. The university started off with a total of 225 students and 60 staff (28 academic and 32 non-academic). 

FUTO courses are fully accredited and recognized by the National University Commission (NUC), a body overseeing all tertiary institutions (Universities) in Nigeria.

  • Interested applicants must acquire at least 5 credit passes in either WASSCE, GCE,  or NECO to include mathematics in not more than 2 sittings.
  • Interested applicants must acquire a minimum score of 180 and above in UTME
  • Interested candidates should choose FUTO as their first choice institution for further consideration.
  • Candidates must take part in the FUTO’s POST-UTME screening exercise.
  • Candidates should note that the average marks for UTME and POST-UTME tests will be the basis for the final decision about enrollment to the university.

FUTO Direct Entry Admission Requirements

  • Interested applicants must acquire at least 5 credit passes in either WASSCE, GCE,  or NECO to include mathematics in not more than 2 sittings.
  • Interested applicants must have either HND, OND, or NCE in the chosen program in FUTO.
  • Applicants must participate in the FUTO’s Direct Entry screening exercise
  • An acceptable Score is prescribed at the Direct Entry Screening Exercise. The final choice is based on the candidate’s certificates and results and performance in the Direct Entry screening.
