Physiotherapy is one of the various health professions. Physiotherapists promote, maintain, or restore health conditions either through physical evaluations, diagnosis, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention, and health promotion.
In addition to clinical practice, other aspects of the physical therapist include but not limited to research, education, counseling, and health management. Physiotherapy is provided as a first-line treatment, whether or not in combination with other medical services. Some jurisdictions, such as the UK, allow physical therapists to prescribe medication.
