To study Education and Yoruba in any accredited university or polytechnic in Nigeria, here is the Jamb and Waec subject combination and requirements you need to look out for.
Note that English Language is Compulsory for all courses in UTME.
The UTME subjects includes;
Yoruba and any two (2) subjects chosen from History, Literature in
English, French, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Geography and Physics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UNILAG requires Yoruba and two (2) of Government/History,
Literature in English, French/Arabic, Christian Religious Studies /
Islamic Studies, Geography, Economic/Commerce.
(ii) LASU accepts Government but does not accept Physics.
(iii) TASUED accepts any three (3) subjects from Arts and Social
Sciences.
(iv) OOU accepts any three (3) Arts subjects.
(v) AAUA accepts Yoruba and any two (2) Arts subjects.
O’Level Requirements
You need;
Five (5) WASSC credit passes including English Language and Yoruba.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) LASU and UNILAG require ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
(ii) TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting
or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English
Language and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
(iii) UNILAG requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes including English
Language, Mathematics, Yoruba and two (2)of Literature in English,
Economics, History/Government, French/Arabic, Christian Religious
Studies / Islamic Studies/WATR (West African Traditional
Religion),and Civic Education.
(iv) AAUA requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English
Language, Yoruba, Mathematics, Literature in English and one Arts
subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements
You need;
Two (2) NCE/’A’ Level passes in Yoruba and any of Literature in
English, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Igbo and French.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) OSCOE accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or NCE in Yoruba and any other Arts subjects.
(i) OAU requires NCE credit.
(ii) UNILAG accepts a. NCE merit/credit in Yoruba and any two (2) Arts subjects. b. Very good passes in three (3)JUPEB subjects; Yoruba and any two (2) of French, Literature in English, Government/History, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies and Geography. c. Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Yoruba, and any of English, Christian Religious Studies / Islamic Studies, Igbo, French, History, Geography and Arabic.
d. Candidates must also satisfy the UTME requirements.
(iii) LASU accepts ‘A’ Level passes in English Language, Arabic, Geography, Physics or History/ Government.
(iv) TASUED accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit pass in Yoruba and any other subject in Arts and Social Science subject or the equivalent of ‘A’ Level Diploma certificate in Yoruba.
(v) AAUA accepts NCE merit including Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject
